Why Portland Home Owners Choose Carpet

01. The Vibe

When it gets to Portland’s rainy season, our community needs a pick me up. What better way than to sink our feet into soft, plush carpet. But not just any carpet. Our residents do not want to trade comfort for harmful smells, or unsustainably sourced materials. That’s why we continue to supply the northwest with the finest, eco friendly carpet.

02. The Material

Carpet is still the best choice for comfort. Although it has taken the back seat in popularity to hardwood, the choices for carpet are better than ever. Whether you want a plush carpet, a sisal runner, or luxurious wool berber, we’ve got you covered.

Is Carpet eco friendly?

Our main focus is wool carpet. Wool carpet is a naturally material grown on sheep. They grow 4-10 lbs of wool per year, and some breads get sheered twice a year. Many manufactures use jute backing, and low VOC binders like natural rubber latex over traditional latex. Our synthetic materials, such as Mohwak’s smart strand, are made of 37% corn starch, and their everstrand is made from 100% post consumer recycled bottles. Our sold brands undergo strict third party testing for VOC’s. You will find CRI green labels on each of them. Godfrey Hirst (pictured left or below) recently achieved a Red List Free certification. Which type of carpet should I use?

Carpet comes in many varieties - Wool, polyester, PET, Triexta, Nylon, sisal, etc. What is berber? What pile height should I choose? Does my choice of pad matter? Which carpet handles spills the best? This can all be a little overwhelming.

Fortunately, we’ve made the best selection guide on the internet. Check it out HERE.

Does Eco Floors handle carpet installs?

Absolutely, and when you’re dealing with premium materials, you don’t want just anyone installing your carpet. Carpet installation is an art. The best companies will make seams less visible, make nicer transitions to other materials, and power stretch your carpet so it stays wrinkle free over time.
